Every few weeks we will be writing a blog about one of our core ministries here at Life Changers – LifeKidz. LifeKidz is our Sunday Kids programme where we aim to create a safe environment where kids can get to know and get excited about Jesus.
For this blog I just want to keep you updated with that is happening in LifeKidz, and if I may say so myself, we are seeing tons of LIFE in LifeKidz, pardon the pun.
Not many know the full picture of what actually happens at LifeKidz on a Sunday!
There are those that believe that their kids wander off into a magical wonderland, where all their expectations are exceeded, all their minds are blown with stories told of God’s grandeur, and friendships are made for life!
And then….
There are those who leave the house in terror, wondering how long it’ll take them to regain feeling in their arm, once their toddler eventually lets go of it? At kids’ church, their helpless baby seems to be left to fend for themselves with nothing but their broken vocabulary and a look of shock on their little face.
But rest assured, however unaware mom and dad may be of what actually goes down, the kids at Life Changers on a Sunday are in good hands, and we’re letting you in on the action!
The Low-down
This month we have some amazing themes across our various classrooms. Our preschool classrooms is where our little ones are learning what worship is from the life of David, as well as how to grow in wisdom from the life of Solomon. At Milnerton, Tableview Evening as well as our two Tableview morning meetings– our inquisitive kids are unpacking the theme of Honesty, over a 4-week journey.
What’s been happening at Milnerton demonstrates how Jesus doesn’t need pomp and splendor to show up in glory! We see pics shared weekly of big smiles and serious talks, laughter and prayer moments, as kids get to know Jesus through connecting with each other at LifeKidz.
What’s new? If you were not yet aware, we have kids’ church in the evenings now too! We started mid-Feb and we have around 25 regular attendees each week, between the ages of 3 and 13!
There’s never a dull moment on a Sunday – even if the entertainment comes in the form of the wild stage presence of storytellers, the mad A.V. skills of our young guns or the athletic prowess of our volunteer moms as they keep energetic kids occupied and safe… all in a day’s work!
I love this verse because it sums up so much of what church with children teaches us, “The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.” – Psalm 145 vs 8.
It’s not glamorous, but it is fun!
It’s not perfect, but it is beautiful!
And best news of all is that God still shows up every week!
