Gareth Nicholson, a guest partner with Life Changers, gave an encouraging word that blew fresh courage and energy into our souls. Using the analogy of a dormant seed that is planted into the ground, we were reminded of the seed’s great potential. Using his own inspiring testimony as a backdrop to his message, we could all relate to our own lives about not knowing what God is doing or what He is going to do next. We need relationships to grow seeds for that’s when our plans change by their poured water into our lives.
Our lives are seed bearers for the Kingdom of Heaven, which is a field that grows big so others can find shelter. The truth is that problems begin when we choose to follow Jesus. We see in Ephesians 6:1-9 that our relationships matter and when the conditions are right, it changes the atmosphere to grow people.
Satan will always use our closest relationships to try cause havoc and steal our peace. We need to be planting seeds into our closest relationships with each other, to flip Satan’s schemes on the head. In Ephesians 5:21 we are called to submit to each other with respect, not for them but out of our reverence for the Church. We are reminded that the ground is level at the Cross of Calvary, where there is no superiority of anyone being more important than another.
We need to see people with a motivation on how to serve them. It is time to start giving, and not just taking from each other. We need to be trying to make each other’s lives easier. It is a parent’s job to disciple their children, so don’t pass on this responsibility to others. When you have children of your own, it humbles you to realise that parenting is not easy.
In every relationship we have, be it in the family or in our workplace, we need to treat people as equals. When you work for Jesus and not your manager, you will always do a better job. When you learn this lesson, God will move you on to greater things.
The Bible is the foundation soil of our lives. The more we dig into it, the more we discover God’s revelation. It is important to read Scripture in context and not just verses at a time.
We can all plant seeds into people’s lives, like a tiny mustard seed in a field, submerged, it can grow into something significant. It takes time to grow, but when it does, it changes the landscape. We all carry dormant seeds in us, where the growth has been overcome by the weeds of life.
God’s Holy Spirit in us has the necessary supernatural Heavenly fertiliser that helps nurture our seeds to grow. Every seed carries potential. Gospel seeds scattered into the world system have the power to shatter the barriers. This is the picture of a local Church and the boulders of the community. When our perspective changes, something shifts and our seeds begin to sprout.
As followers of Christ, we can provide shelter and refuge when we water seeds with the Holy Spirit. When we allow God to use us in His field, He will plant something into our hearts that will grow and as we grow, we can help others to grow too.
