Gabe delivered a powerful message from Ephesians 1:7, reminding us that Jesus’s blood speaks a better word and is and always will be ENOUGH. It is in Jesus that we have redemption (that is, our deliverance and salvation) obtained through His blood, which paid the penalty for our sins and resulted in forgiveness and our complete pardon, in accordance with the riches of His grace.
All our inheritance as children of God was obtained through Jesus’s blood. It is not in our works, our righteousness or by our power, but it was His blood that was the exclamation mark for us, that declared it was finished and His job fully completed on the Cross.
We need to declare the powerful name of Jesus over our family and pour His blood over every situation, posting it on the doorposts of our lives and our hearts.
Every narrative throughout the Bible shouts out the blood of Jesus and symbolises the sacrificial substitution that took place on the Cross. Every page bleeds with the blood of Jesus, calling us to salvation. The blood of the Lamb is the blood of Jesus, who is the perfect Lamb of God.
This substitution theology can be seen clearly in these 4 accounts:
- In Genesis 22, Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his son on the altar, out of obedience, but the Lord provided a lamb as a substitution instead – 1 lamb for 1 man.
- In Exodus 12 the first-born Israelites’ sons are saved from death by putting the blood of an unblemished, sacrificed lamb over their doorpost, for the angel of death to pass over them. The blood was enough – 1 lamb for 1 family.
- In Leviticus 16 we read how the High Priest poured out the blood of an unblemished, sacrificed lamb over the Mercy Seat for the atonement of the sins of his people. – 1 lamb for 1 nation.
- Jesus’s blood on the Cross was always God’s plan to redeem us. John the Baptist recognised this truth when he announced Jesus as the Lamb of God in John 1, declaring Jesus to be – 1 lamb for the world!
In Isaiah 59 God looked for a perfect man, who was worthy to be a sacrifice for the world and found none, so He gave up His own son to be that sacrifice. In the end, even Pontius Pilate declared Jesus to be a perfect man, found innocent and without fault. Ironically, when the crowds cried out for Jesus’s blood to fall on them, they were actually prophesying, for that is indeed what happened.
When the scapegoat was released by the High Priest at the time of the sacrifices, it would be tied with a rope around its neck that had been dipped into the sacrificed lamb’s blood. After some days in the wilderness, the scapegoat would return with the rope, which was no longer red with blood but had turned to snow white. This stopped happening after Jesus was crucified, declaring that Jesus’s blood was enough and that a scapegoat was no longer needed.
Likewise, God removed our past, present and future sins with the blood of Jesus, as far off as the East is from the West, washing us as white as snow. Jesus’s blood robbed sin of its power and cuts the guilty scarlet threads off our necks.
Jesus’s blood washes us clean, and when we symbolically paint it over the doorposts of our lives and our families, we will start to see miracles happen, and prodigals returning.
THE BLOOD OF JESUS IS ENOUGH!
