A Recap of Be That Girl Groups

We’ve just finished our 6 weeks of ‘Be that Girl’ groups here at Life Changers and God has totally exceeded my expectations for these groups!

When about 200 ladies signed up for the groups I realized there is such a need for women to connect with each other and with God in His word, on a deeper level.

For the past 6 weeks every Monday night, ladies from all walks of life have connected in groups of 10 in the main auditorium at LCC. Each group has been led by a group facilitator.

Each week, after watching a short video where a word was shared about a particular woman in the bible, we’d break up into groups and have an open discussion around a few questions pertaining to that story. It’s amazing how ladies don’t mind ‘going deep’ very quickly! Most of us don’t struggle to share our hearts and it was a safe space for ladies to be vulnerable and allow God to minister to them.

As I looked across the hall each week at the different ladies connecting, young and old, black and white, new and mature believers and those yet to believe, I saw a glimpse of God’s multifaceted and diverse wisdom bringing all these girls together. May we continue to grow and learn from each other as women.

The testimonies of people’s lives that have been touched through this bible study has blown me away and gives me greater courage to continue to press into more of this Kingdom call!

I’d love to share three testimonies of what God had done in different ladies over the last few weeks. May it put courage in your heart and remind you that we serve a Big God who’s intricately involved in each of our lives and our unfolding stories.

Celia:

Celia comes from a Hindu family and converted to Christianity about 28 years ago. Her family disowned her for about a year due to her faith.

Over the time of Be that Girl groups and at a church fast she felt led by God to forgive her mother who had abused her as a little girl. At about the same time, her mom told her that she saw a vision of Jesus! It’s amazing how God works; His timing is perfect!

Celia has felt a huge weight lift off of her as she’d being carrying unforgiveness for so many years. She has now decided to go to her mom’s 80th birthday celebration in Durban, whereas before that would never have been an option.

She mentioned too that her sister in Dubai, who was known as the hierarchy of the family in terms of the Hindu faith, has recently given her life to Jesus and sent Celia a video of her being baptized!

Praise God – slowly this family is coming to know Jesus!

Patience:

Patience has been on a job search for quite a while and after her group prayed for her for work, a company she applied at in 2016 gave her a call for a teaching post for speech and drama.

She is currently working part time and is so thankful for God’s provision and sovereignty over her life.

Becca:

Becca came to Be that Girl groups searching for work, while working an afternoon job that covered her rent, but left her with little to spare at the end of each month. The girls in her group committed to pray for God to provide work for her.

Shortly after that Becca was called in for an interview for a position that she’d applied for multiple times just out of desperation. The company was battling to find someone with experience for that position so they decided to go with someone they could train.

Normally anxiety is a struggle for Becca, but she felt no fear or anxiety in the interview knowing that if it was what God wanted for her He would make it happen. She then went for her second interview and was offered the job and almost double what she was earning before!

Better yet, Becca works 5-hour shifts, which means she has time to study her teaching degree for next year! They’re also open to discussing her working longer shifts for more pay after a few months of her being there.

God is so faithful!

So girls, may God ‘do it again’ in your lives as you’ve read these incredible testimonies, I pray it’s encouraging.

As I’ve watched women learn from each other over the word of God in the last 6 weeks at Be that Girl groups, I’ve been so encouraged and reminded again of how powerful it is when we unite together as women.

Psalm 133:1;3 (Passion Translation)

“How truly wonderful and delightful
to see brothers and ‘sisters’ living together in sweet unity!

…For from this realm of sweet harmony
God will release his eternal blessing, the promise of life forever!”

God releases and ‘commands’ His blessing over us where there is unity. As His daughters, we want the command of His blessing over us. May He continue to unite us in friendships as diverse as we are.

God always does big things in small groups and it’s always His plan for us to walk in community together in relationship. Two of the ways we facilitate this at Life Changers is joining a Life Group or a serving team.

If you are keen to join either of these, please click on the links above and we will help direct you to a group.

Much love girls xxx
