#PIONEERAGAIN
When we started out at VISION SUNDAY at the beginning of 2016, after much prayer and consideration, we declared that we have come upon a new season of stepping out in faith and pioneering, as we get positioned for greater kingdom impact.
Let me say this…Pioneering is never easy. Just ask someone who has scaled Mount Everest, the person launching a new business in tough economic times, or the first-time parents!
Yet, when we look at Jesus, “The PIONEER and perfector of our faith” (Hebrews 12 v 2), we are called to continue the pioneering story of the Gospel. It’s wild, it will be misunderstood, but it is one full of adventure.
So, where does SOWING IN SUMMER fit into all of this?
For the best part of the last year, the elders have been feeling God call ‘this generation’ of Life Changers church to sow for the next generation. This is the scripture that gripped me when I first started to feel this:
“That the generation to come might know God’s praiseworthy acts, that the children still to be born might arise and recount them to their children.”
Psalm 78 v 6
Craig Clark further heighted this when he was speaking about ‘legacy’, and how most Christians are “FOCUSED ON THE NEXT 3 MEALS, WHEN THE GOSPEL CALLS US TO BE SEEING 3 GENERATIONS AHEAD.”
Wow, that’s a big ask but we believe it is a Gospel mandate for every believer and church to answer.

WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN?
If Life Changers is your home and church family, that means that you are in PARTNERSHIP with the Gospel story that God is unfolding there. Simply put, all we did on Sunday was “SHOW YOU THE MONEY!” I simply explained the financial story of Life Changers church and how we invest the money in 5 different areas.
WHAT ARE WE ASKING?
Please prayerfully consider SOWING financial seed, that will enable us as a church to keep pioneering and serving this city excellently.
When you have a moment, please have a look at these amazing scriptures regarding the heart of generosity and the essential truth that God has provided each of us with both SEED FOR SOWING and FOOD FOR EATING. It is essential that we allow this truth to determine our personal financial story.
Have a look:
- 2 Corinthians 9 v 5 – 10
- Philippians 4 v 10 – 20
There really are so many great scriptures in this regard, but both of these should be hugely helpful.
INTO WHAT AREAS WILL THESE FINANCES BE ALLOCATED?
Simply put, these resources will NOT be allocated to salaries or general running costs of the church, which we called “Keeping the lights on”.
Any money given for “Sowing in Summer” will be directed into 3 key areas:
- ‘Ministries and Special Events’, but more specifically Life Kids and Youth
- ‘Beyond our walls’, where we would be looking to invest in church planting, giving to the poor and social justice initiatives to a greater extent.
- ‘Heart for the House’, where we need to invest in the Life Changers facilities (Tableview and Milnerton), in order for us to continue to be the best church we can be for our city.
